Cornish Wine Tours presented with a Gold award for ‘New Business of the Year 2018’ at the prestigious Cornwall Tourism Awards night held on Thursday 1st November at Truro Cathedral…
The annual award ceremony now in its 17th year, celebrates the best of Cornwall’s vast array of tourism businesses, which this year welcomed a new category for ‘Tourism Innovation and New Business’, of which Cornish Wine Tours took the top spot for the ‘New Business’ section.
Cornish Wine Tours owner Kate McBurnie from Padstow, launched the business earlier this year, and it’s a first of its kind for Cornwall, being the only dedicated wine tour available. The tour offers guests a day of wine tasting around the award-winning Cornish vineyards on a fully-guided excursion, where guests are collected and chauffeured for the day to three locations, eliminating any need for a designated driver. A gourmet lunch is also provided ensuring that guests get to sample the best of Cornish wine alongside delicious locally sourced food.
The tours, which run from March to November, include visits to Camel Valley Vineyard, Trevibban Mill, Knightor Winery, Bosue, as well as separate events with Polgoon Vineyard, near Penzance. All tastings, guidance, transport and lunch are included, with a half day tour starting at just £75 per person.
Owner Kate is delighted with the outcome, “It is such an honour to be awarded a Gold award in the first year of my new business. I am fortunate to have such wonderful vineyards near by who make visiting such a pleasure. Setting up Cornwall’s first wine tour company has been a great experience and hearing such positive feedback from guests has given me the confidence to keep growing the business.”
As part of the new tours Kate is also offering distillery and brewery experiences for those who would like that as an option on particular dates throughout the year.
